Birch Bark matchbox
Size is 7.5cm tall and 2.8cm across the lid diameter.
Made using the bark from the native British Birch tree, these handy sized pots were traditionally used and are still suitable for matches. They are airtight, waterproof, and solid little fellows that are fun to make. I also like using them for my sewing needles for leather work, plus there is room so that you can load up the needles with the thread all ready to go for the next repair.
Or perhaps use as a decoration for traditional crafts. A solid wooden lid and base are used along with a looped hand made raffia cord handle, held in place by a peg.
Held together with a bark tabbed fixing and glued method
